Let's skip the small-talk about how hot August has been thus far (and how much hotter its likely to get during this hellish month) because though the temptation is two spend the weekend hugging the air-conditioner, there are some mighty fine events across Egypt's capital awaiting.

We begin on Thursday with plenty of parties and gigs, starting at Cairo Jazz Club, where saxophone-lead band, Nour Project, take to the stage. There's live music at ROOM Art Space in Garden City, too, where local indie band, Karkadan, perform a set of classic oldies, while Bahiyya Project return to Zamalek's 3elbt Alwan.

Elsewhere, the thud-thud of house music can be found at the Tap East, where Hurghada-based DJ, Teddy Adel, takes to the decks, while over at the Tap Maadi, DJs Stella and Ouzo are in charge of the music.

Elsewhere, DJ Feedo kicks off the weekend at Royal Maxim Palace Kempinski's 3 AM with a night of hip-hop and r&b, while Asser Nabil is the man in the DJ booth at the Garden Nile Front in Manial.

Alternatively, Falaki Theatre hosts the last night of Ya Sem - a contemporary dance performance from choreographer, Sherin Hegazy, which explores the position of women in Egyptian society.

Friday is just as busy, meanwhile, with Cairo Jazz Club gearing up for a night of deep and tech house, courtesy of two of Egypt's top young DJs, Gaser and Hassan Abou Allam. Elswhere, hp-hop is on the menu at the Tap East courtesy of Fat Sam, while the Tap Maadi welcomes the smooth Latin jazz sounds of Ashraf Habashi and Los Compadres.

Elsewhere, ROOM Art Space welcomes back Shady Ahmed, and Basheer brings his Nubian-infused music to Downtown Cairo's After Eight.

A contemporary Oriental experience is up for grabs at Hakamoro in Heliopolis, as belly-dancer, Nancy, performs, while another increasingly popular belly-dancer, Farah Nasri, will perform at 3 AM.

Saturday is a little more hushed as usual, but there's still plenty to get stuck into, including Basheer's second gig in as many days, but this time at Cairo Jazz Club. Over at El Genaina Theatre, meanwhile, a double header of lice music sees quirky all-woman band, Bahgaga, showcase their unique comedy and monologue-infused music, before increasingly popular local brass band, El Nafikha, take to the stage.

Elsewhere, Sherif Nakhla winds down the weekend with some tech house at the Tap East, while Screwdriver front-man, Shehab Kasseb, does likewise at the Tap Maadi.

This is just a teensy-weensy snapshot of the events across the capital this weekend – check out the Cairo 360 events calendar for more!
