Hello Cairo! It's the last weekend before Ramadan, so make it count. Here's the best of the weekend's events.

Start your Thursday with something completely different by heading to El Genaina Theatre in Al Azhar Park for a night at the circus! Darb El Ahmar Arts School will perform a circus show with the Spanish Group Cia Sebas for just 10LE. Totally worth it, if you ask us!

If you feel like cooling off at a rooftop bar, head to Borsa Café’s Roof Top, where a house party is being organised by Cairo Expats. Entrance costs just 20LE and will get you one complimentary drink. Music-wise, we’ve got live Egyptian folk music courtesy of the Jerrycan Bedouin Band at El Tanboura Hall and Beshir at El Sawy Culturewheel, while oriental bands Fusion & Leil We Ein will perform at El Sawy as well. Or you could always catch the blues covers band Bad Mojo at the Cairo Jazz Club, and oriental fusion rock band Sa7ra at After Eight tonight. Alternatively, you could catch several acts in one night by heading to the Citadel for the Citadel Music Festival, where Ali El Haggar, Maghdi El Baghdadi &band and the students of the Talents Development Centre will perform.

On Friday, the ethnic music theme is still going strong with El Fateh Hussein performing traditional Sudanese songs at Cairo Opera House’s Open Air Theatre, while Abdel Fattah El Gereiny will perform pop songs off his latest album at El Sawy Culturewheel’s River Hall. Just as poptastic is Khaled Selim at the Citadel Music Festival, held at the Cairo citadel. If you feel more like oonts-oonts and dancing, check out DJ Ouzo at the Cairo Jazz Club tonight, or shake it off to Salalem’s fun and funny oriental pop at After Eight.

Aside from music, you can always educate yourself with a one-hour photography seminar at El Sawy Culturewheel, or attend a lecture by author Abdul Majid Al Mahlimy, who will discuss his new book Stories from Before January 25.

Enjoy the peace and quiet of Saturday with a stroll through ‘Explore Egypt’ a group photography exhibition on AUC’s New Campus. This collaborative work of 18 AISEC interns from all over the world aims at promoting internal tourism. Speaking of tourism, the Cairo Citadel continues its Citadel Music Festival with performances by Ateya Sharara, Jannat and El Nour Wel Amal orchestra from 7PM onwards.

Back in Central Cairo, you can check out popular Islamic preacher Mostafa Hosny, who will host a lecture in El Sawy Culturewheel’s River Hall free of charge. For some live music, check out DJ Miesh at the Cairo Jazz Club or flamenco cover band Fuego at After Eight.

There you have it, Cairo! Happy Weekend and Ramadan Karim!
