It’s been a big week for Cairo 360; a year of hard work has culminated in the launch of a bigger, better, sexier version of the site. This calls for celebration – there are plenty of options, too!

Cairo Jazz Club kicks off Thursday with live music courtesy of double bill including Abo ft Jack and Wust El Balad, while Salalem usher in the weekend at After Eight. Other live music comes via MUST Opera House; the 6th of October City venue welcomes Egyptian legend, Medhat Saleh, to the stage. Meanwhile, Nagham Band will play a decidedly more intimate gig at Sufi in Zamalek. In addition, the 2st Festival &Conference of Arab Music comes to a close at Cairo Opera House and El Gomhouria Theatre.

Cairo’s clubbers are in for a treat, as DJ Tamer Auf is back at Amici, while Berytus Pub in Mohandiseen hosts its weekly Ladies’ Night. Elsewhere, Armada Boat hosts the Mandarin Club House Night. That’s not all, though; Otium welcomes DJing royalty, Feedo, Hook and Mobbs for All Black Everything – a night of unadulterated r&b.

Friday opens with Art Cafe’s Art Lab Festival and Comedy Republic; comedians Ahmed Ahmed and Peter Zarif are just two of the names taking to stage at Cairo International Convention Centre for a night of stand-up.

This year’s edition of Cairo Fashion Festival takes place at Season’s County Club with a day of live entertainment, refreshments and hot-ass fashion. Over in Maadi, Horreya Square will be swarmed by music and art enthusiasts as El Raseef Festival returns.

Live music comes in the form of eclectic group, Sahra, as the popular band perform at Swiss Club Cairo. Talta Talet are live at After Eight, Camera Band are centre stage at Cairo Opera House and Nassebian Orchestra perform 100Copies Music Space, while Darwasha bring their versatile rock and electronic sounds to Jesuits Cultural Centre.

Cairo Jazz Club will be under the spell of DJ Migo’s electric beats, while DJ Fat Sam is the man at Armada Boat’s Smash Night. Tamarai welcomes Lebanese DJ, Marwan Keyrouz, for Live and DJ Carlos and singer, Sandy, perform at Space Festival, held in Orouba Garden.

Elsewhere, Darb 1718 hosts a Nokia-sponsored Freestyle Event and Sufi screens Oscar-winning, Japanese animation, Spirited Away.

Saturday sees the long-awaited first event from Cairo Flea Market at Designopolis and it also marks Nūn Center’s One Year Anniversary Celebration, which will begin after Nūn Center’s weekly Farmers Market.

Live music is the order of the day, as Cairo Jazz Club hosts performances by local bands, Karakeeb and Salalem. More local talent is on show at After Eight, as shaabi-rap group, No Comment, perform. At the other end of the musical scale, pop-star Fayrouz Karawya is live at El Genaina Theatre.

Art is plentiful, with PhotoCairo 5 being the most notable newcomer. The photography exhibition-come-symposium is spread across 10 Mahmoud Bassiouny, CIC and Townhouse Gallery. The latter has also, this week, launched ‘Liminal State’, in which artists, Kaya Behkalam, Jane Jin Kaisen and Soren Thilo Funder, showcase their experimental videos.

Remember, this is just a snapshot of the fun that waits you this weekend; check out the Cairo 360 events calendar for more.
