With Cairo slowly coming back to life, we're dusting off the cobwebs and venturing deeper into the city. A new weekend brings new beginnings, and this weekend is full to the brim of exciting activities and events.

Thursday is sure to soothe any stress, with Alchemy hosting another edition of 'Heart of the Equator' to warm up with some exotic cocktails before dancing the night away to DJ Lyon at Tamarai. Alternatively, Massar Egbari will be performing a set of rock, jazz and blues at staple night-spot Cairo Jazz Club. If you're feeling a night of hardcore raving, 'Underground Night' is back at Villa Mercedes with a big line-up of trance DJs.

For a cultural evening, local Arabic rock band City Band is performing at Beit El Raseef, whilst Bikya Maadi showcases hidden jems at their 'Talent Show'. Homegrown singer-songwriter, Maii Waleed - along with the Blue Fish (El Asmak El Zarkaa) - hits the stage at El Genaina Theatre. Meanwhile, El Sawy Culturewheel present something a little different; a nostalgic puppet show brings the singer Abdel Halim Hafez back to life.

Friday is set to be a chilled-out day with Artellewa screening Babel; the final chapter of of Alejandro González Iñárritu's 'Death Triology'. On both Friday and Saturday, Amici Heliopolis are serving up lunch to dedicated party animals at their Early Risers brunch.

Rounding up the weekend on Saturday, Tamarai goes 'Deep By Day' with DJ duo, Gawdat, in addition to DJ Richard R, while unique local band, Us We Lazq, takes centre stage at Cairo Jazz Club. Elsewhere, cultural-hub Darb 1718 hosts a 'One Day Peace Festival' with plenty of live entertainment to mark the 2013 International Day of Peace. Calling all photography lovers, the initiative 500px is bringing one of their 'world-wide meet-ups' to Cairo, featuring inspirational talks and all sorts. Live music reigns at El Genaina Theatre once more as Maghna Khan and Lel We Ein put on a performance. Also providing traditional entertainment, Tannoura Dance Group guarantee to make your head spin at Wikalet El Ghouri. Lastly, Diwan Maadi invites bookworms for a signing of Iman Qorra's new book, 'Tahyees Mish R7'ees'.
