The long 6th of October weekend we've all been waiting for is finally here! If you've left it too late to organise a beach weekend, never fear, there's plenty of events in Cairo!
Thursday means that Alchemy is back with yet another 'Tequila Tale of Silver and Gold' where they bring a little bit of Mexico to Egypt. Elsewhere, DJ Roro is getting into the swing of things at Graffiti's 'Rocking Thursday', over at the Four Seasons Nile Plaza. Local musicians, Noha Taha and Karim Hossam, come together at Sufi, whilst Double Barrel entertain at Bikya Maadi. British singer, Ellie of London, performs a set of modern jazz numbers at Jazz Mate, and Ahmed Harfoush reclaims his regular spot at Saigon Restaurant & Lounge. After Eight is back on the scene with a performance from oriental rock band, Sahara, while Cultural hub, Beit El Reseef, offers something a little different; the play 'Masr Etnein Rakeb' incorporates some stand-up comedy.
Unfortunately, the 7PM-6AM curfer means that Cairo comes to a standstill on Friday, however, Artellewa is hosting a screening of Italian masterpiece, 'The Bicycle Thief'.
On Saturday, Bamboo are hosting another night of 'Lebanese Love', where DJ's Aly and Kiko will be spinning the best oriental hits aboard the Trianon Boat. Back by popular demand, Egyptian rap group, Soot El Share3, perform at El Sawy Culturewheel, Wust El Balad rev up the crowd at Cairo Jazz Club and The Cadillacs rock out at Jazz Mate. Delving into the realm of internet trolling, electronic musicians, Kareem Osman and Ramsi Lehner, are live at 100Copies Music Space in DOwntown Cairo.
Getting in the party mood on Sunday, Bamboo joins forces with DJ Zizo for some unstoppable house beats at 'Made in Bamboo'. Jazz diva, Michelle Rounds, takes to the stage at Cairo Jazz Club with her soulful sounds once more, while over at Beit El Raseef, saxophonist, Nour Ashour, combines his performance with short, stand-up comedy sketches. Bringing traditional sounds from Port Said and the Suez regions, El Tanboura takes to the stage of El Dammah Theater. Elsewhere, Balcon Lounge invites film-lovers for a screening of award-winning fantasy drama, 'Mr Nobody'.
This is only a snippet of what's happening over this weekend in the capital; check out the Cairo 360 events calendar for more. Happy long weekend everybody!
