Hello Cairo!

The long Eid holiday is nigh and there's a palpable excitement in the air as everyone plans out their perfect beach breaks away from the city. But before that, the Cairo 360 events calendar is a veritable banquet of live music, exhibitions, parties and more.

Thursday sees a host of local music talent usher in the weekend, including Salalem, who return to Cairo Jazz Club, and Sahara, who are back at Downtown's After Eight. Over in Al Azhar Park, local metal bands, Darwasha Project and Kayan, take to the stage of El Genaina Theatre for a special gig marking the release of Kayan's new album.

Speaking of which, 100Copies Music Space is also hosting two acts, both releasing new albums; Nahla Mattar and an all-female electronic music project. There's more live music at Rawabet Theater, where the Here's the Voice Festival closes with a bang.

Meanwhile, Cairo Opera House marks its 25 year anniversary with a night of Silver Jubilee Celebrations, which will see a host of musicians, orchestras and choirs perform.

Elsewhere, Dokki bar, Alchemy, hosts another edition of vodka-dedicated night, Shiver, while DJ Lyon is at Tamarai.

There's little happening on Friday on account of the 7PM curfew, however, the Kayo Furniture Festival in Maadi will still run, as will Artellewa's weekly film screening.

Things pick up slightly on Saturday, with Nubian-inspired musician, Basheer, taking to the stage at Cairo Jazz Club, while after-hours club, Bamboo, welcomes DJ Aly and DJ Kiko for another night of Lebanese Love.

Meanwhile, Wikalet El Ghouri opens its door for another performance by the El Ghouri Tannoura Dance Group, while The Expendables of Egyptian music, Al Asala Fe Rabea Al Omr, are live at El Sawy Culturewheel.

Though exhibitions are few, the ones that are running are well worth checking out. 'Arts for Peace & Freedom' at Darb 1718 brings the work of Egyptian and Danish artists together, 'With the Pioneers' explores the beginnings of contemporary Egyptian art, while Marwa El-Zhazly's 'Made in Lebanon' pokes fun at mainstream perceptions of love and fame.

These are just a few of the events in the capital this weekend; check out the Cairo 360 events calendar for more.

Have a great weekend!
