The weekend is all but here and Cairo's venues are out in full force once more. From live music and parties, to exhibitions and lectures, there really is something to satisfy all Cairenes.
Gracing Cairo cinemas once more, the 6th Panorama of European Film is running for an entire week, screening the best films from contemporary European cinema, as well as creations from the most promising, up-and-coming directors.
On Thursday, new kid on the Downtown block, nightspot and art-space VENT, invite DJ Minus T to weave some magic on the decks, whilst Alchemy tempt us with the return of Forbidden Nectar . O Bar is hosting a 'Commercial Night' complete with violinist Azmy, and Tamarai host four of the top DJs in the country for Back2Back.
It's always nice to do something for the greater good and Darb 1718 are hosting the opening of 'Watan Ad Alhayat', Cairo University's project dedicated to supporting homeless children, complete with musical performances from Maghna Khan and Marawan Anwar. Elsewhere, Gezazy host 'Thursday's Bazaar' where pre-loved, repurposed items will be for sale. Cultural-hub Beirut invite TV-stars to present an 'Inner Stage' lecture on Gnostic Christianity and once again, jazz pioneer Yehia Khalil takes to the stage at Cairo Opera House.
On Friday, the iLounge is back at Heliopolis' Roof Bar with a masquerade ball, while Amici Heliopolis have plenty of 'Lebanese Treats' in store. Basking in the light of their recent reopening, Amici Zamalek, meanwhile, host a 'Liquid Beats' , while psych-rock band, The Invisible Hands, drum up a storm at VENT as Camera Band perform at Bikya Maadi. Beit El Raseef invites budding musicians to their Open Jam night and Artellewa reserve 'The White Space' for spontaneous artistic outbursts from the public.
Saturday sees the return of 'There's Something Bloody About Mary' at Alchemy, as well as Rock n'LOL and Ashara Gharby at Cairo Jazz Club. All the way from England, meanwhile, Khyam Allami brings his unique oud sounds to Falaki Theatre, whilst the Sweet Sound Band takes over Cairo Opera House with exotic sounds of tango, salsa and rumba.
On a different note, Body Shapers Egypt celebrates their 4th Anniversary at the Four Seasons First Residence, complete with a surprise line-up of activities.
