Hello Cairo,

What a beautiful weekend this is looking! The sun is shining, the birds are singing - no, wait. That's the sound of unnecessary car horns. Whatever the case, there's plenty to see and do across the capital this weekend.

On Thursday, the Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival, D-CAF2015, hosts its latest live music event with Denmark Based DJ, Why Be, and local rapper, Abyusif, performing at Sherazade. Meanwhile, DJ Hady Tarek's Sound Chemistry welcomes Gaser and Mohey from the Besworx Record Label at Venue Lounge & Bar.

Elsewhere, live music at Cairo Jazz Club comes courtesy of award-winning musician Fathy Salama & Sharkiat, while Maadi bar, the Tap, features a night with the Mowafi brothers, Timmy & Wally, titled Horrible DJs.

Aly B takes over Downtown's VENT with his trademark techno sets, while Garden City's rooftop lounge welcomes Lina Marwan to the decks.

Unique oriental brass band, the Blowers, gear up for performance at ROOM Art Space, as Alchemy celebrates all things Mexico at a Tequila Tale of Silver & Gold.

On Friday, Back 2 Basics celebrates its second anniversary with a huge day party at Fairmont Nile City and CJC welcomes Kidmims; and Shenzo for a night of deep house tunes, while Riverside hosts this week's edition of Riverdeep with Tahawy and Shaggy.

Tamer Auf is set to play a decidedly funky set at the Tap, while Aya Metwalli takes over ROOM Art Space.

Vintage Bar & Lounge invites one and all to its Karaoke Night, while Cavallini channels all things Levant for Lebanese Night.

Zamalek's Peking Lodge hosts the talented and smooth violin player Nasser Morali, while the Cairo Opera House welcomes the Moscow Ballet for a special on-ice rendition of the Nutcracker.

On Saturday, the Tap hosts a night of giggles and stand-up comedy courtesy of Steve Kandel, while CJC enlists the oriental pop rock talents of Salalem.

Two film screening are happening at Zawya-a Chilean/French documentary drama titled Nostalgia for the Light, and a Chinese drama titled Still Life- as part of D-CAF2015, as well as a unique group art exhibition titled Great Ticks From Your Future at the French Consulate.

'This is an Exhibition about Shoes' sees a cobbler explore the fine line between art and design through the medium of a shoe at the Townhouse Gallery.

New art galleries this week include the 'Remembering Mahmoud Said' exhibition at Safar Khan Art Gallery as well as the 'Silence of Music' exhibition by Syrian artist Suheil Baddour.

All of this and more is happening this weekend, to check it all out, visit our event calendar here.
