While many lament how busy Cairo is on New Year's Eve, instead of choosing to either spend it home in some capacity or just skip the whole thing altogether and a good, early night's sleep, there are ways you can enjoy the turn of the year without resorting to pushing and shoving through crowds – it's true, we promise.

If you are indeed looking to usher in 2016 in style, look no further than Cairo's hotels, many – if not all – of which are adding a sophisticated touch to proceedings.

InterContinental Cairo Semiramis is hosting a festive Lebanese celebration escorted by oriental music at Sabaya (500LE), an exquisite Far Eastern dinner at Birdcage (550LE) and a night of live music and delicious Italian delicacies at Pane Vino (900LE) as well as a fancy Gala Dinner & Dance event at the Grill (980LE) and a classy evening with an exquisite Nile view at ICS's Tea Garden (300LE).

Another eventful New Year's Eve is held at Four Seasons Nile Plaza, where a Cantonese-inspired eight course dinner is held at 8 (1000LE++), a classic five course meal at Bella (800LE++) and a dinner comprised of some international picks at Upper Deck (500LE++), while Zitouni hosts a Levant-infused New Year's dinner (650LE++).

But that's not all for the Four Seasons. If you feel like celebrating at a higher pace, Graffiti has put together a night of music and an inclusive dinner menu (1500LE++), while the hotel is also welcoming Egypt's King of Pop, Amr Diab, for an unforgettable night (1500LE++).

Over the river, Four Seasons First Residence has an ace up its sleeve with a festive and delicious four course menu at Strada (950LE++), not to mention a big New Year Eve's party with stars including Nicole Saba and Dina (1800LE-3600LE).

New Year's Eve festivities continue by the Nile at Fairmont Nile City's Black and White Party which sees a line-up of entertainment including belly dancing, DJ music and a live band at Onyx Lounge (500LE++); and if black and white is not your thing, Saigon Restaurant & Lounge's Black & Gold is hosting a special dinner to the backdrop of live music courtesy of Ahmed Harfoush (600LE++) while Napa Grill is hosting fancy gala dinner and live music (525LE++).

Catch some belly dancing performance at Kempinski Nile Hotel's the Nile ballroom (750LE++), head to the hotel's Jazz Bar for some all-you-can-eat sushi with DJ Gracia on the decks (550LE++), or you can enjoy an extravagant Ottoman dinner at Osmanly (550LE++) or New Year's Eve dinner at the Blue restaurant (500LE++).

Conrad Cairo Hotel is another great choice for a New Year's Eve by the Nile, where you can enjoy some lovely violin tunes alongside a five course meal at the Oak Grill (450 LE), a dinner buffet with soothing piano music at Solana (300LE), an all-inclusive Asian dinner at Kamala (350LE) and a night of belly dancing entertainment at Hot & Blue (1350LE). Alternatively, Stage One (900LE) and Jayda (250LE) are prime destinations for nightlife lovers.

In New Cairo, the Royal Maxim Kempinski Hotel offer an Italian four-course meal and some live music at Lucca (690LE++), an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet at the Fisherman's Hook (580LE++), a night of jazzy music and a five-course meal awaits at Romanov (1250LE++) and a more Levant experience at Bab El Qasr (800LE++).

Meanwhile in Heliopolis, Fairmont Heliopolis is hosting a New Year's Eve seafood buffet at Aqua E Luce (575 LE++), a Teppanyaki feast at Noble House (620LE++) a special Indian dinner night at Raj (450LE++) and a lavish set menu at Leonardo (575LE++), while Radisson Blu is holding a specialMidnight Masquerade Ball (500LE-600LE).

Happy New Year!
