Omar Khayyam, Egypt’s
flagship wine, recently held the Omar Khayyam Culture Festival at Darb 1718 on
Saturday 3rd November 2012 to celebrate Egyptian heritage through a showcase of
traditional and contemporary art, music and food.

Coinciding with the
launch of the latest 2011 vintage, the new Omar Khayyam now has an easy-to-open
screw cap seal and authentic new label underpinning it further as the eternal
wine of Egypt.  The festival saw hundreds
of attendees flock to El Fustat, the original area where “the city
victorious” was founded, for an afternoon enjoying modern art by the likes
of SamDzine, Menna Hafez and Salah Botrous, as well as photography by Karim
Mansour and Marwa Adel.  Attendees also
enjoyed music from prominent local musicians, Ashara Gharby and Salalem, whose
unique take on modern Nubian and Egyptian music had the crowds entertained into
the early evening.  Local favourites,
Buzz, closed the festival with blistering performances of rock and roll
classics.
