In a wave of support for people staying at home in light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Ministry of Culture announced that its latest initiative with Cairo Opera House will see many plays, musical performances, ballets, and films available for streaming online. Ranging from plays, like Ahwa Sada, concerts by Omar Kahirat, to classical music staples, like The Nutcracker, Carmen, and Swan Lake ballets. The Ministry will also stream short films, documentaries, and offer various books from different genres online.

Dr. Inas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, decided to broadcast arts and culture materials that are considered the treasure of the national archive. They exist in the Ministry’s libraries and archives, and will be available through its YouTube channels and social media platforms in a new initiative called Culture between Your Hands,” reads a Facebook post by the Ministry of Culture’s spokesperson and Cairo Opera House’s Head of Media, Mohamed Mouneer.

The Facebook post was posted last week, and it announced that the initiative will be kicking off this week. Stay tuned, and stay at home!
