The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) has partnered up with Cambridge University Press & Assessment to launch Egypt’s first fully digital English exams for children.

Official Launch Event: The Start of a New Digital Era

AASTMT hosted a press conference at its Smart Village campus with Cambridge University Press & Assessment to officially launch the first fully digital English language assessments for young learners in Egypt, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s journey towards digital educational transformation.

The press conference was attended by Natasha Arain, Commercial Director for Cambridge University Press & Assessment for the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa, alongside Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, with the presence of Dr. Passant Ahmed, Manager of the International Examination Centre at AASTMT, and Simon Bradbury, Area Manager for Africa from Cambridge University Press & Assessment.

Introducing Digital Young Learners Exams

The Digital Young Learners (DYL) exams usher in a new era of assessment in Egypt’s primary education sector, introducing interactive, engaging, and age-appropriate digital experiences that motivate students to demonstrate their English skills confidently.

The exams benchmark a child’s current level, encourage continued learning, and prepare them for more advanced Cambridge qualifications.

“This launch marks a significant moment for Cambridge in Egypt,” said Natasha Arain. “Our Digital Young Learners exams combine the highest academic standards with an engaging, game-like format that reflects the way today’s children learn best. This initiative supports Egypt’s vision for digital transformation by fostering digital literacy and preparing students for a globalised future.”

Investing in Innovation

The Arab Academy has invested in state-of-the-art technology and teacher training to ensure the seamless delivery of these exams, thereby reinforcing its reputation as a leader in educational innovation.

“Our partnership with Cambridge ensures that Egyptian students have access to the most advanced assessment methods in the world,” said Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar. “We are pleased to be the first in Egypt to offer the digital assessments to our students, which will set a new benchmark for young learners’ language education.”

Commitment to Education

The collaboration reflects both institutions’ commitment to advancing English language learning, promoting digital readiness, and providing opportunities that align with Egypt’s national educational priorities.
