Water equals life; everyone knows that. All living creatures depend on water for hydration, food, cleaning and countless industrial uses. However, in the midst of a climate crisis, water resources have become a topic of debate for many, and Egypt is not shying away from the issue.

Innovative Solutions for Climate Resilience

The International Water Management Institute will have ten sessions at Cairo Water Week. IWMI delegates at Cairo Water Week 2025 include Youssef Brouziyne, Egypt & Regional Representative; Gaber Abdellatif, a national researcher for Water Quality & Food Systems, and May Attallah, a national researcher. The event began on October 12th.

When And Where

From October 12th to 16th, 2025, at the Triumph Luxury Hotel in Cairo, Egypt, this year’s event features ministers and experts from around the world, with the theme “Innovative Solutions for Climate Resilience and Water Sustainability.” Hosted by Egypt’s Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation with regional and international collaborators.

The Meeting’s Goals

The meeting aims to address water scarcity, enhance climate adaptation, and build resilient food systems across dryland regions. There will be panels and technical sessions, showcasing state-of-the-art innovations that aid in the fight against climate change and its effects.

The Meeting’s Main Topics

The meeting will centre on five major topics related to sustainable water and climate action. It will highlight the importance of collaboration in managing water resources responsibly, discussing regional and global partnerships, the interconnection between water, energy, and food security, as well as the role of diplomacy in managing shared water systems.

Innovation In Water Week

Attention will also be given to innovative practices that strengthen water resource resilience, including the use of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence for efficient water management, desalination, recycling, rainwater collection, and improved modelling systems. Nature-based solutions will form another key area, emphasising environmentally friendly approaches like green infrastructure for cities and integrated coastal management.
