Among the many perks of modern technology and mass production, is giving handicrafts an additional polish of value and uniqueness. When it comes tocrafts that belong to a specific region or culture, it’s more than just a handmade item; it’s a piece of history, and a link in the chain of heritage.

Acknowledging the real value of traditional Egyptian crafts and the importance of securing local artisans a place under the spotlight, Turathna gathers artisans from across the nation under one roof, each representing their local craft with a diversity of handmade products.

Taking place from the 2nd to the 6th of October at New Cairo’s Egypt International Exhibition Center, Turathna’s display includes, pottery, Kilms(rugs), Khayameya, woodworks, home and fashion accessories, and many more. Check the whole lot here:

Turathna is hosted by Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSME)’s Masharea’ Masr, boasting a long list of sponsors, including United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the European Union, and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Check out Turathna’s Facebook page and website. This weekend is going to be a long weekend, so you’ll definitely have the time to drop by, and maybe treat yourself with an item or two.
