With the final season of everyone’s favourite Heist ending, again, the desire to learn Spanish rises. So whether you want to understand your favourite shows with no subtitles, go to Madrid to check out the Bank of Spain yourself, or just find the language beautiful, we all want to move beyond the few words we know (the not so-favourable words). So here are the five best places in Cairo to get that motivation going.

Instituto Cervantes – Spanish Cultural Center

The Cervantes Institute, named after arguably the most important figure in Spanish literature and culture, is a worldwide organisation created by the Spanish Government. Operating in Dokki, Greater Cairo, it’s the most accredited Spanish language institute in Cairo. It offers both online and in-person courses, which prepare you for the Dele Examinations. Dele’s certification is the official title’s certifying the degree of mastery of the language granted by Spain’s Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sport.

Salamanca Language Center

Salamanca Language Center teaches Spanish among other languages (English, Italian, and Russian). Alamca’s instructors are a mix between professional certified Egyptian teachers and native speakers. The first level is taught by the Egyptian professionals and going forward by Spanish native teachers. Both in-group and 1-1 courses are available, with special offers for students.

MakiPrime

Running for over 15 years in Heliopolis, MakiPrime has made a name for itself. The language centre uses only native teachers from various Spanish-speaking countries to expose its students to different dialects and accents, and ultimately, to different cultures as well! Equipped for diverse types of students, the centre offers a variety of courses from Conversational Spanish, writing oriented courses, Dele preparation to Business Spanish.

Hilmar

Hilmar is a one-person institute named after, you guessed it —  The Venezuelan teacher. Hilmar Corro is a certified Spanish teacher for adults with more than 10 years of experience residing in Cairo for the past six years. Courses could either be in groups or 1-1, depending on the preference of the students.

La Escuela

Founded as an online academy in 2016, La Escuela has been growing steadily to establish a physical office and inaugurate its biggest branch in Nasr City. La Escuela prides itself in its instructors, all Spanish-certified MA or PhD holders. Its variety of courses includes individually-tailored 1-to-1 courses to meet the preference and needs of students.
