Last June, we published a piece about the opening of the Naguib Mahfouz Museum. A little less than two months later, we talked about a caricature exhibition taking place at the museum, dedicated to the iconic literary hero. Now, we move on to the latest addition to the Mahfouz museum’s events.

According to Youm 7, the exhibition has more than 70 official government documents with the Egyptian crest like the ones we see on most of our official papers, the eagle. The files were taken from journalist Tarek El Taher’s book, “Seal of the Eagle” (Khitm El Nisr), which displays Mahfouz’s life through his official documents; starting with his education, including his primary school certificate, with his personal signature in both English and Arabic, and his Bachelor of Arts certificate.

His professional and personal life is documented as well, with financial disclosure statements, confidential reports, property papers, and important ministerial decrees, such as his presidency of the Cinema Institute and his addition to the board of the University of Free Culture.

The exhibition is running until the 8th of September at the Naguib Mahfouz Museum, so hurry up and witness the history and immortal belongings of the legendary writer.
