The Cairo International Short Film Festival is back for the 7th year of creativity and innovation. This year, it is showcasing the brightest short films from all over the world. They are determined to provide a platform for filmmakers to showcase their work and foster dialogue between filmmakers and the audience. ​

This year, the festival is being held from the 16th to the 21st of December at Cairo Opera House, the best venue for showcasing films and celebrating film geeks’ love of movies.

Movies Getting Their World Premieres at Cairo Shorts

Multiple films are premiering at the Cairo International Short Film Festival, offering them an excellent opportunity to be seen by the best in the Egyptian and international short film industry. These movies are I Know You Can Hear Me from Palestine, The Sky is Falling from Egypt, Suspension from Lebanon, When the Lights Go Out from Egypt, and Metanoya from Egypt.

Speakers at the 7th Edition of Cairo Shorts

Of course, it wouldn’t be a festival without live talks from industry giants. This edition of the festival is holding talks by director Yousry Nasrallah and film critic Andrew Mohsen. There will also be a masterclass by scriptwriter and journalist Mohamed Hisham Obeya, known for blending his journalistic curiosity with his love of writing for the screen.

Who Is Getting Honoured this Year?

Every year, artists get honoured for their contributions in the world of filmmaking, and this year is no different. The people getting the Golden Tower award this year are musician Rageh Daoud for his artistic career and director Marwan Hamed.

Movies Participating in the Egyptian Competition

Many movies are competing in the competition for Egyptian films; these movies are When the Lights Go Out, the Sky is Falling, Love Bites, Metanoya, Thouraya, Just Us Girls, Teta, By the Kiosk, and Withdrawal or Deposit.
