Doing the same job week in and week out, followed by a weekend outing at the same restaurants can get boring very quickly. And despite the company making all the difference, sometimes a change of scenery is much needed. So for the upcoming weekends of December, we’re presenting you with a host of hot musical events happening in the centre of Cairo, in the glamorous theatre of Grand Nile Tower. Think of it as an early new year’s resolution to have more fun.

Grand Nile Tower and Room Art Space have collaborated to bring you the hottest underground musical talents at the venue you deserve, for nights called Grand Experience. The Small Theatre of Grand Nile Tower has all the comfort and glam you need to thoroughly enjoy a musical concert without having to drive all the way to the outskirts of Cairo.

Last weekend, on Friday 7th of December, we enjoyed the beautiful musical sounds of Estabena, and Do’souka, live at the Small Theatre of Grand Nile Tower. Do’souka played their own unique style of music, starting with the instrumentals, to the melodies, and of course, the lyrics. You may know them from songs like Ya Bakhtak, and Hashrab Hasheesh. On the same night, you’ll get to listen to the diverse band, Estabena. The band has members from different Mediterranean nations, all coming together with their own culture and influences to produce a beautiful blend of songs from Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Spain, France, Italy, Lebanon, and Syria. You may be familiar with some of their songs, Kan Agmal Youm or Lu Rusciu Te Lu Mare.

Next weekend, on Saturday 15th of December, you can enjoy two Egyptian bands playing awesome covers of international bands. Seattle Band are playing captivating covers of Nirvana’s best songs. Seattle are known for their charismatic live performances, so whether you’re a huge fan of Nirvana, or don’t even know about them, you can still enjoy their time on stage. On the same night, you can enjoy the best Coldplay songs by the best Coldplay tribute band in Egypt, Strawberry Swing. Their charisma on stage, plus their amazing ability to replicate Coldplay songs with passion make their performance one not to be missed.

Approaching Christmas, you can enjoy beautiful folk songs and the nostalgic classics of Arabic music, sung so stunningly by the talented Noran Abo Taleb. Noran will be performing live on Friday the 21st of December, and you do not want to miss her on stage. She’ll be joined on the same night by The Gypsy Jazz Project, one of the hottest jazz bands in town at the moment, as they’ll be playing delightful jazz songs inspired by the likes of Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli.

On the last Friday of the month, and the year as well, you can hit Grand Nile Tower for a Grand Experience featuring Youssra El Hawary. Starting her musical journey a number of years ago, Youssra El Hawary quickly became famous for her unique voice and different style of music. You may know her for some of her most popular songs such as Reehet El Foraa’ or Bas Kollo Yehoon, and if you don’t, then Friday 28th December is your chance to see her perform live.
