Throughout 2023, a wave of fresh talents took over the big screen, leaving audiences captivated with exceptional performances. Eager to see more of their skill, here are five actors and actresses who launched their up-and-coming acting careers at full speed with emotional performances and soul-touching scenes.

Youssef Hashish

Initially a skilled content creator, Youssef Hashish stood out with his role in the theatrical masterpiece W Tee’mel Eh Fina El Senin alongside Tharaa Gerbil. He also stood out with his role in Rivo 2, which featured a vast cast of skilled actors and actresses. Hashish proved himself a great actor and an experienced on-stage performer with a  promising career ahead.

Hamza Diab

Launching his career at full speed, Hamza Diab shone brightly in his role in Kamel Al Adad. Initially aspiring to become a famous footballer, Diab was diagnosed with growth plate inflammation (osteochondritis), a condition that causes pain and limits the range of motion. Diab looked out for his passion, tried out new hobbies, and signed up for an acting course – and from there, he found his purpose.

Donna Emam

Being a TikTok sensation, Donna Emam launched her career with minor roles throughout 2023 until the start of Rivo 2, where she managed to blow everyone away with her fantastic performance. Later, sharing all the details behind the show with her TikTok fanbase, Emam has a promising career ahead as a content creator and an actress.

Farida Ragab

Farida Ragab gave an outstanding performance with her recognisable role as the glass child in Leh La 3, alongside Salah Abdallah and Nelly Karim. With multiple heartfelt scenes about family problems and an ongoing love story throughout the episodes, Farida got much-deserved applause for her role.

Ahmed Tarek

Known for his role in Finding Ola earlier in 2022, Ahmed Tarek was another up-and-coming talent we witnessed in Leh La 3. Taking up the role of Nelly Karim’s fiancé, Tarek delivered a heartfelt performance. Tarek is also one of Forbes 30 under 30 for 2023 as the co-CEO of Tarek Nour Communications; as he ends 2023 on a powerful note, we look forward to seeing more of him on the big screen in 2024.

Ahmed Ghozzi

We initially took notice of Ahmed Ghozzi in his role of Adam in El Meshwar with Mohamed Ramadan back in 2022. He has since then risen to the occasion, especially this past Ramadan season alongside Khaled El Nabawy in Resalet Al Imam and Yasmin Abdelaziz in Darb Nar. But this past month, we were especially impressed by his performance in the finale of The Crown, in his role of Adnan Khashoggi, which took his talent and skill beyond Egypt and into the international scene.

Moataz Hisham

Moataz Hisham started acting in 2014 at the Culture Palace in Fayoum with his brother Moamen. Later, he landed roles in series like Al-Toufan, Seventh Neighbour (Sabe’ Gar), Abu Omar Al-Masry, Kingdoms of Fire, and Al-Ikhtiar, yet he was most recognised this year in his role alongside Nelly Karim in Leh La’ 3, making it his biggest role yet and leaving the drama scene longing for more.
