Our late-night online excursions never fail us; they always bring us one or two findings that are worth sharing with the people of this city. This time around, we stumbled upon The Egyptian Cinema Experience on Instagram.

With a profile picture that reads ‘Museum of Egyptian Cinema’ in Arabic, we were intrigued to check out the new grounds, thinking it belongs to the official museum in Garden City’s Cinema Cultural Palace, which was inaugurated in November of last year.

Taking a closer look at the account, the unorthodox approach of celebrating the Egyptian cinematic heritage reveals a private venture to take film enthusiasts farther than just a typical tour in an official museum.

According to The Egyptian Cinema Experience’s Instagram account, the interactive museum is set to include a spectrum of activities that cater to all age groups.

Be among the first to take a virtual tour by filling this form, which grants you a ticket to Egypt’s first virtual, interactive museum. You can also keep an eye on the Facebook page for the latest news.

It’s also worth mentioning that this is not the first non-official attempt to establish a film museum in Egypt. Producer Hisham Soliman has also been working on creating a physical film museum for over 10 years. Also, in 2016, GUC’s students of the Architecture Programme were given a task to envision and design the Egyptian Film Museum in Downtown Cairo.
