Sexism and gender-based inequalities are topics that have been receiving so much international attention. While some battles have been won by women, there is still such a long way to go.

With International Women’s Day coming up on Friday 8th of March, the Greater Cairo Library – located in Zamalek – is going to host an exhibition dedicated to Arab and African caricaturists. On March the 16th, over 50 artists are going to be participating from all over the Middle East; discussing challenges for Arab women, especially gender violence, inequality, and show the collective efforts that have been called for on behalf of global nonprofit organisations, all through the art of caricature.

Apart from that, the exhibition will be honouring Egyptian female role models in the field of portrait drawing; the honourees are women who have been utilising their art to effectively empower women in Egypt, the Middle East, and the world!

Invitations are free. In other words, the event is open to any member of the public, or whoever might be interested in being part of the change, and celebrating the absolute best of female artists!
