With such a troublesome year that keeps on hitting us with bad news, one needs to counter the stress by hunting down beauty wherever it may be. This time around, we’ve found it at Garden City’s Falak Coffee Shop and Art Gallery, where Egyptian photographer Ahmed Hamed displays a handful of pictures that capture the beauty of Downtown Cairo in a show called West Not Now.

Hamed’s photographs document the fading beauty and the authenticity of Cairo’s beating heart, where the diversity of ancient buildings of various architectural styles have stood for years, witnessing numerous waves of change. Alleyways, interiors, and even the area’s minuscule details are profound and meaningful in Hamed’s frames.

The exhibition, which opened on the 13th of this month, runs until the 31st of September. Open from 8 am to 10 pm daily, Falak Coffee Shop and Gallery fully abides by the government’s precautionary measures, ensuring its visitors a safe visit.
