The Egyptian government suspended schools and universities about a week ago amidst the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, at which time the American University in Cairo (AUC) announced its week-long Spring Break. During that week, the AUC staff prepared online courses for the students, and began virtual classes yesterday, which are set to last for the next two weeks.

“We have a unique resource at AUC, which is the Center for Learning and Teaching (CLT). The center was established about 17 years ago, and has become, not only regionally but internationally, known for its expertise in faculty development, providing them with support for pedagogy, assessment and digital education,” reads the official press release.

The AUC has also announced that there will be no quizzes or exams during the upcoming two weeks, and staff members will only be on the ground in case of a critical task. Otherwise, the AUC staff and students have been told to stay home for the next period, along with the citizens of the world.
