The plan to alleviate the load off electricity consumption has finally been announced by the Egyptian cabinet and will be operative as of tomorrow (Tuesday 31/07/23) at noon. The cabinet has announced the details for power outage schedules throughout the country. This decision was made as per the coordination between the Electricity and Petroleum Ministries.

Following an intense heatwave in July, the government began to relieve some of the burdens in certain regions due to heightened electricity consumption that was putting pressure on the country’s natural gas network, which provides power to plants.

The Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, announced this nationwide effort during the Cabinet’s weekly meeting last Wednesday.
