In the heart of Cairo, where the past meets the present, at Bayt AlSinnari, Researcher Ahmed Eid will take us on a journey through time on August 17, hosted by Cairo Biography.

Eid, a mechanical engineer, is a passionate researcher of Egypt’s heritage from the early 20th century. He focuses on individuals who lived in Egypt at the time, and traces the places they inhabited throughout the country. Utilising old documents and maps of the city, he visualises the way these locations may have looked in the past to allow us to imagine the historical appearance of the area, create stories, and discover surprises within the forgotten corners of the city.

The anticipated seminar is meant to unravel the stories of Cairo during the era of World War I, how Cairenes lived, and the main historical events that took place back then. Eid will unveil a visual narrative of the past through the paintings of artists and soldiers who witnessed the war.

He will also tell us about the unsung heroes of the time – the Egyptian labourers who took part in shaping that history. Eid’s explorations will extend further to tell us about the animals that were part of the war and were loyal to their companions. The seminar will be hosted by Cairo Biography.
