Once the weekend begins, the fine weather we’ve seen in the past couple of days is forecast to be over – or so we’ve been told. Don’t let the dusty weather bring you down; brush it off your shoulder and get going. And don’t forget to grab a jacket, it could be a cold one!

Thursday begins with an opera night at Cairo Opera House, where the Main Hall hosts Puccini’s classic Tosca, while the venue’s Small Hall hosts an acoustic night, courtesy of songstress Rania Shalaan. Egybadour take to the stage at ROOM Art Space Garden City for a spectrum of genres, while Ibrahim X and Younis flaunt their electro-shaabi skills on stage at Darb 1718.

When the night grows older, Kahareb, as well as Frogmoose, head to the stage at Cairo Jazz Club to play around of funk and pop, BubbleGum Kollectiv spin some pop at The Tap West, which also happens to be Armen V’s genre for the night at The Tap Maadi. The Tap East this night sees Djunkie, who will funk it up on the decks.

When Friday comes, Estabena play some Mediterranean folk tunes at ROOM Art Space Garden City, Jadal’s frontman, Mahmoud Radaideh takes to the stage at Grand Nile Tower for a round of Arabic rock solos, and Egyptian Harpist Mona Wassef takes to the stage at Cairo Opera House to play some classical numbers. Meanwhile, at El Sawy Culturewheel, El Ekhwa Abou Sha’r takes to the stage for a round of religious chants.

Elsewhere, two Pink Floyd tribute nights take place in the city; one at Darb 1718, where Paranoid Eyes take to the stage, alongside local rock band Night Shift, while the other is at The Tap Maadi, courtesy of Gravy Train. Speaking of the Taps, The Tap East hosts a house music night, where DJ Mohsen Kamel is on the menu, while The Tap West’s electronic night sees Pablo Fierro, Azaar, and Kidmims taking to the decks. Another house night takes place at Cairo Jazz Club, where a lineup of Tourkey & Selim, Nader Tahawy, and Omar Sherif takes to the stage, while it’s a groovy night at Cairo Jazz Club 610, courtesy of DJunkie.

As for Saturday, Cairo Opera House sees a Beethoven tribute night, where the orchestra plays some of his best pieces, while El Gomhoria pays homage to Egyptian composer Mohamed El Mougy. Nouran Abou Taleb sings Arabic Jazz at The Tap West, Hamed El Sayeh plays a round of acoustic tunes on stage at The Tap East, while Cairo Jazz Club ends the night with the heavy beats of rai music, delivered by local band Rai-Na.
