We are not in the mood for a long intro this Thursday, so we’ll jump straight to what the sleepless city of Cairo has on offer for the weekend. Here’s what to expect:

Thursday begins with a couple of Sufi nights; one at Sufi in Zamalek, courtesy of chanter Zain Mahmoud, and another at Alrab3, where Mawlay take to the stage for a round of religious chants. Local band Moud re-launch their album Sweet & Sour at Stage ElZamalek, Mohamed Tarek takes to the stage at Darb 1718 for a stand-up comedy night called Laugh at Your Mashakel, while Mai Kamal sings various tunes on ROOM Art Space Garden City’s stage.

When the night grows older, Armen V spins a round of pop tunes at The Tap East, Gravity play some funk and R&B at The Tap West, while DJ AK drops some R&B and hip-hop tunes at The Tap Maadi. Cairo Jazz Club hosts a night that sees Egyptian Project and Karavan Sarai taking to the stage, while Cairo Jazz Club 610’s Electric Thursday sees DOU and Heavy Pins taking to the decks.

When Friday comes, Cairo Opera House hosts several events; a classical music night lead by Maestro Selim Sahab, a Jazz night courtesy of Yehia Khalil, and an Arabic contemporary music night by Ali El Helbawy. Elsewhere, The Sinatras cover tunes by Frank Sinatra at ROOM Art Space Garden City, Vli Weezy raps on stage at Darb 1718, El Hadra serves a Sufi night at El Gomhoria Theatre, while Ali Qandeel takes to El Sawy Culturewheel’s stage for a stand-up comedy night.

Ayman Nageeb delivers a house music night at The Tap East, Gloria Roffael and Mike take to the stage at The Tap West for a funk night, while Undercover Elvis cover classics by The King himself at The Tap Maadi. The night ends with a bang at Cairo Jazz Club 610, where Balthazar swing between jazz and blues, Malak El Husseiny takes to the stage, and Goede closes the night.

As for Saturday, Gravy Train take to the stage at ROOM Art Space Garden City for a round of Pink Floyd covers, pianist Ramzi Yassa, conductor Nader Abassi, and the orchestra pay homage to Beethoven at Cairo Opera House, while Invaders cover some Iron Maiden tunes on stage at El Sawy Culturewheel.

The night ends with Shahira Kamal takes to the stage at Cairo Jazz Club for a host of Arabic contemporary tunes, and Cocoon playing some Latin jazz at The Tap west.

That’s not all, check the whole lot on the Cairo 360 Events Page. Happy Weekend!
