Cairo 360
The impending loom of returning to work/school/real life after a long holiday is beginning to settle in as Eid winds down. If you’ve spent the break in Cairo, though, you still have a few days to make the most of – and these events will certainly help.
Thursday is busy as usual, with plenty of gigs and parties to get stuck into, starting at Cairo Jazz Club, where live music comes courtesy of singer-songwriter and guitarst, Danny Malak, and local band, Funk OFF. There’s more live music in Maadi, meanwhile, where Ahmed Harfoush performs at Cheers, while, staying in the area, the Tap kicks off its weekend with alternative rock covers courtesy of Elias Sabella. Sister venue, the Tap East, meanwhile welcomes DJ Teddy Adel for a night of hip-hop and r&b.
Elsewhere, Garden City’s ROOM Art Space welcomes back jazz saxophonist, Shady El Qasseer, while a spiritual night of music awaits at Zamalek’s 3elbt Alwan, where Mustafa Rashad performs and DJ duo, Aguizi & Fahim, man the decks at the Garden Nile Front in Manial
Having celebrated its second anniversary this week, Rooftop Lounge welcomes back DJ Medoz with The Urban 1, while other highlight events include Rap Night at El Sawy Culturewheel and the reopening of Gŭ Bar.
Aguizi & Fahim are set to play two back-to-back gigs this weekend.
Aguizi & Fahim are back in action on Friday, this time at Cairo Jazz Club’s Friday Fever, while other music of the electronic kind can be found at the Tap East, where DJ Armen V is the man in charge, leaving rai-fusion band, Sahra, to perform at the Tap Maadi.
Gŭ Bar’s opening WKND continues and Basheer performs at After Eight, while the Garden Nile Front goes oriental with belly-dancer Ranem and DJ Hany Khalil.
There’s more live music at 3elbt Alwan meanwhile, where Troubadour bring their unique fusion of classical, rock and Oriental music, and at ROOM Art Space where Bassist extraordinaire, Samer George, takes to the stage alongside singer and former The Ka-ssettes front-woman, Amy Frega.
It’s gigs galore on Saturday, too, starting with a huge three-act line-up of Karkadan, Karakeeb and Ayoul at Cairo Jazz Club, while the Ob La Di Trio take to the stage at the Tap Maadi.
Cesar Mora,Shady Nagi & Pawel Kuzma, aka Ob La Di Trio, perform at the Tao Maadi this weekend.
Elsewhere, Oriental rock band, Code Masr, make a rare appearance as they wind down the weekend at After Eight, while increasingly popular Alexandrians, the Sourour Project, perform their latest gig at El Sawy Culturewheel.
