Hello Cairo!

With the cold weather almost, kind of subsiding, Cairo’s clubs, bars, theatres and restaurants are beckoning us with a weekend packed of things to see and do as we move closer to Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

This Thursday, we see several festive events creeping onto the scene; 50A Concept Store fills their store with Christmas celebrations for the weekend whilst Ontop host Santa at their extravagant ‘Christmas Bash’. Elsewhere, Katameya Heights Club House hosts a huge DJ line-up at ‘Christmas at Home’ event and popular Dokki nightspot, Alchemy, celebrate the warming properties of whiskey at Molten Amber

It’s a busy night at the Fairmont Nile City, meanwhile, as O Bar welcomes DJs Ouzo and Aly Goede and Ahmed Harfoush pays tribute to Frank Sinatra at Saigon Restaurant & Lounge.

More live music tonight comes courtesy of local favourites, Déjà Vu, who take to the stage of Cairo Jazz Club, while the immensely talented Amro Salah Trio play at Cairo Opera House.

It’s Ladies’ Night at Sofitel Cairo El Gezirah’s Buddha bar and the suitably named, Hisham Blues, is back at Jazz Mate for an evening of laidback music, while DJ and Producer, Adham Zahran, is gearing up for a mammoth five-hour set at Downtown bar/art-space, VENT.

On a different note, tonight is the last performance of the Al Qafilah Theatre Troupe’s medley of stage adaptations at Falaki Theatre, while cultural hub, Megawra, screens classic thriller, 12 Angry Men.

On Friday, Amici Heliopolis welcomes all for an evening ofLebanese Treats and DJ Feedo is back at O Bar, while Cairo Jazz Club welcomes Oriental house band, Soopar Lox, for an evening of unique live music.

Beit El Raseef host ‘Cloud Friday’, offering a day of arts and craft activities for all the family, while on the shopping scene, catch local urban wear brand, Krak Baby’s ‘Laced’ Collection at a special pop-up store in Zamalek.

On Saturday, Tamarai will be transformed into a catwalk-come-market of sorts, as the City Lights fashion show brings together top international high-street brands. Meanwhile, Alchemy’s ever popular ‘There’s Something Bloody About Mary’ art-brunch continues, while Darb 178 celebrates 2013 with an evening of cultural fun, including live music and art.
