If you are reading this, then congrats – you made it to the weekend and there’s plenty to get stuck into across the capital in terms of events. 

Thursday begins with an acoustic night at Zamalek’s 3elbt Alwan, where Dubai-based guitarist/singer, Elias Sabella, takes to the stag, while Amer El Touny leads his band, El Mawlaweya El Masreya, at the Open-Air Theatre at Cairo Opera House for a Sufi night. Elsewhere, kArkAdAn orgAnic presents a one man show at Garden City’s ROOM Art Space, where he will sing and play, not only one, but several musical instruments, at the same time.

As the night goes on, The Meteors Project take to the stage, after which one half of the duo, Gaser El Safty, flies solo and ends the night with a trademark tech house set. Elsewhere, sibling DJing duo, Gawdat, perform at Downtown’s Zigzag, while DJs, Ramy Salah, Hussein Gamal and Zak, take over for a house night at The Garden Nile Front’s Slide Way Sessions.

Other highlight nightlife events include DJ AKM at The Tap East and hip-hop night  at The Tap Maadi with Fat Sam.

On Friday, Balcon Heliopolis screens John Lee Hancock’s The Founder, which tells the story of Ray Kroc, a salesman who turned two brothers’ innovative fast food eatery, McDonald’s, into one of the biggest restaurant businesses in the world, while Darb 1718 welcomes Bahgaga for a night of music, monologues and entertainment and ROOM Art hosts a Pink Floyd tribute night, where local cover band, Paranoid Eyes, take to the stage.

Elsewhere, Cairo Jazz Club’s welcomes DJ Zalat and popular duo, Aguizi & Fahim, while The Tap East welcomes DJ MobbzThe Tap Maadi hosts rock band, Bluezophrenia and brings Ahmed Samy and Jorg play back-to-back at Zigzag.

There’s more music on Saturday, too; Sudan Roots take to the stage for a Sudanese folk-music night at ROOM Art Space, Hamed El Sayeh plays covers and originals at The Tap East in an acoustic night, while electro-shaabi acts, Hesa w Halabasa, DJ Samara and Islam Chipsy, take over at Cairo Jazz Club’s Saturday L’Oriental and The Tap Maadi, welcomes back, Shady Ahmed for an acoustic night.
