Hello Cairo!

This weekend is not only going to be a
chance to give back to the community but it’ll also prove to be a treat for the
political enthusiast in you!

Tonight at 7PM, catch talks by Ibrahim Eissa, acclaimed journalist and editor-in-chief of Al Dustor newspaper at the Shorouk Bookstore in Zamalek, while
award-winning authors Bahaa Taher and Sahar El Mogy will have a book-signing session at
Diwan’s Zamalek branch.

If you feel like mixing charity with consumption, head to the Fairmont Nile City’s ‘For the Love of Egypt’ event
at the Magenta Terrace, where a surpre line-up of bands will play live
while you enjoy drinks, food and shisha, with proceeds going to Tawasool NGO, a charity working with the families of January 25th martyrs.

Speaking of live music, the Cairo Jazz Club will feature Egyptian rock-fusion band Wust El Balad tonight, so head down after work for their witty lyrics and improvised songs.

As Friday rolls around, you’ve still got a
chance to give back, literally. Head to Sawy Culturewheel on Friday for the
event ‘Give Back: Developing Egypt,’ organised by the Egyptian Junior Business
Association, the event aims to introduce the public to as many NGOs as
possible in order to help the Egyptian community.

Still feel like contributing? Head to the Zamalek Art Gallery for their
‘Mother Egypt’ exhibition, where a collection of artwork by some of Egypt’s most acclaimed artists will be on sale, with proceeds
going to charity.

Sticking with the patriotic theme, you can
also go to Rawabet Theatre where they’re having a revolution poetry festival
and poets from all around Egypt
will be performing their art.

If you want a break from it all you
can head to the Cairo Jazz Club for a night of electronic music by DJ Amr
Hosny
, we can definitely guarantee that to be a politics free night.

On Saturday morning, head to City View’s Le
Lido Clubhouse, on the Alexandria
desert road, for their ‘In the Love of Egypt’ festival. This charity event will
host a number of fund raising activities for both grownups and kids, like a
book fair, sale of baked goods and much more.

Feeling uninspired? Visit the Maadi Library
on Saturday for a lecture by Yasser Fathy entitled ‘The Six Circles.’ This
program is ‘a breakthrough model for personal development and change’ and Yasser will be
there to answer questions and talk about the program.

If you want to try something completely
new, head to the Townhouse gallery for their exhibition ‘The Popular Show.’
This exhibition was open for public submission and will be displaying all
collected art by amateurs and professionals alike.

Kick back, relax and end your weekend with
a drink at the Cairo Jazz club while enjoying a live performance by local band
Cairokee, who bring their Egyptian rock fusion every time.

Have a great weekend Cairo!
