A busy weekend awaits across Cairo, with live music and parties the name of the game, as the city’s venues host some of the best local talent, as well as some top foreign imports.

Electronic music fans and the city’s clubbing contingent have plenty to sink their teeth into on Thursday, with popular event organizer, LaidDaze returning with a huge party headlined by HVOB and including Agents of Time, Politik and Hisham Zahran.

Elsewhere, Downtown’s Zigzag welcomes two of the best young DJs in Cairo, Nourre Fahmy and Fayek, while the Tap kicks off its weekend with duo, DJ Fuzzy & Ayman Nageeb. Elsewhere, Hady Tarek and Misty are the men in charge of the music at the Garden Nile Front, while DJ Feedo takes to the decks at the Garden’s Korba branch for this week’s edition of Motion.

There’s some tasty –looking live music across the city, too, with Cairo Jazz Club hosting local bands, Screwdriver and Funk OFF, while Salalem perform at After Eight in Downtown. Elsewhere, the legendary Yehya Khalil takes to the stage at Cairo Opera House and Yasser El Maghrabi puts a modern twist on traditional Sufi music at El Sawy Culturewheel, while Fairmont Nile City sails into the weekend with Hisham Blues performing at Saigon and Riham Mustafa performing at Onyx Lounge.

Meanwhile, local rock band, Darwasha, perform at Garden City’s ROOM Art Space as part of their fourth anniversary tour and, away from gigs, Thriller Live moves into its second night at the Marquee in New Cairo, while Cairo Opera House’s production of Verdi opera, Un Ballo in Maschera continues.

On Friday, Nile-side Giza lounge, Eat & Barrel, is taking advantage of the good weather with a special edition of weekly day party, Eat to the Beat, where DJ Fuzzy & Ayman Nageeb perform for the second time in as many days, alongside Fairouz T. and DJ Fabric.

Just a little way down the Corniche, Blurr is having its own as day-party, as the the event organizer closes this season of the Blurr 100% Series at the Temple, where the day’s entertainment comes courtesy of Spanish DJ, AFFKT, as well as Abou Samra, Hafez and Fayek.

Later in the evening, the latest edition of Riverdeep sees DJ AKM take the reins at Zamalek’s Riverside and Cairo Jazz Club welcomes a debuting Sync Tank, as well as Aly Goede and Hisham Zahran, while ABdo Kaldy returns to the Tap for Backstep.

Away from parties altogether, Photopia in Heliopolis is holding a special event for those looking to get into the fashion photography industry. The Emerging Fashion Photographers Talk will see several local photographers share their wisdom and their stories from the industry.

Elsewhere, jazz and blues singer, Mostafa Rizk, returns to ROOM Art Space and the popular Basata Band perform at El Sawy Culturewheel, while one of the highlight acts appearing in Cairo this weekend comes in the form of the utterly unique Dabke-and-electonica-fusing group, 47SOUL, who perform at El Genaina Theatre.

There’s more of the band on Saturday, too, as they take to the stage at Cairo Jazz Club, for what is set to be a huge gig on an otherwise largely quieter day.

However, other highlight events include neo-pop band, Hawas, closing the weekend at the Tap in Maadi and shaabi stars, Oka & Ortega, performing at this weekend’s edition of Gu Bar’s weekly Oriental-series, Heshek Beshek, while Riverside hosts another DJs City party in collaboration with DJ Academy.

Elsewhere, human-saxophone duo, Muzikestra – who found fame on social media – perform their first gig in Egypt at El Sawy Culturewheel, while down the halls of the Zamalek cultural centre, Khaled Yousef takes to the stage for an evening of Nubian-inspired music.
