Cairo Weekend Guide: Who Killed Bruce Lee at CJC, Darb 1718 Anniversary, Theater of Dreams X Zigzag & More!

Another weekend comes, to bring along many events that are sure to keep everyone happy. According to our sources, the next couple of days will be warm enough to step out of your door and enjoy a carefree weekend. Here’s what’s going on in Cairo:

Thursday begins with a stand-up comedy show at Darb 1718, with El Hezb Al Comedy taking to the stage, a night of covers and classics at Maadi’s 3elbt Alwan, where Hassan Ramzy and Kahled  Al Agaty  team up for an acoustic night, while ROOM Art Space, in Garden City, welcomes underground band, Dou’soka, for a round of songs.

Deeper into the night, Zigzag teams up with Theater of Dreams, to bring Berlin-based deep house and ethereal techno DJ, Soul Button, as well as Ouzo and Sebzz, who will play back-to-back, while Cairo Jazz Club welcomes Lebanese electro punk band, Who Killed Bruce Lee, to the stage, before Safi plays some of his unique Oriental electronica tunes.

Elsewhere, The Tap Maadi welcomes Richard R. to the decks, while the The Tap East hosts an electro-swing night, where versatile DJ, Hussein Fahmy, alongside DJ ZawZaw

There’s plenty to get stuck into on Friday during the day, meanwhile, which is, luckily, the warmest day during this weekend; Darb 1718 celebrates its 9th anniversary with lots of free workshops and gigs; The Royal Maxim Kempinski’s Lucca hosts Friday’s Italian Brunch; The Tap East’s Let’s Do Brunch welcomes Shady Ahmed.

As the day moves on, Heliopolis’ Bab 18 hosts an acoustic night of covers by Hania Fansa, ROOM Art Space sees ney player, Mohammed Antar, taking to the stage along with his band for an Oriental night, while anime rock starlet, Nour Khan, heads to the stage of 3elbt Alwan.

As the night grows older, The Boogie Monster, Ramy DJunkie, sets The Tap Maadi on fire with his r&b and hip-hop tunes, while Mayounah and Nakhla take over at Cairo Jazz Club, tech house duo, Aguizi & Fahim and take over the decks of Dijon Bistro’s Breathe Out Friday.  But it’s a totally different mood at Nineteen Twenty Five’s Alla Wahda We Noss; a night that sees Alla Kushnir, shaking it hard, as well as Armin V., taking to decks.

Saturday, comes several Christmas festivities; Jingle Bell Rock, at Yellow Umbrella, hosts a variety of fun activities are set to take place, including a performance by the trio, Alia Khaled, Amir Zarkani and Leila Adham, who will cover some Christmas classics; Bardo Clubhouse’s celebration, meanwhile, Ice cream Fi December Christmas Party, which gathers food, entertainment and shopping.

Later in the evening, The Walkman Show take to the stage at The Tap Maadi for a night of Arabic and reggae fusion, German DJ and live multi-instrumentalist, Benedict Coon, takes to decks for a special night at Riverside, while Cairo Jazz Club,, winds down its weekend with a double header of live music featuring Sorour and Shereen Abdo.
