As we inch closer to the end of Ramadan, one could rightly assume that the month would wind down to a squib; but that’s not the case with the last weekend of Holy Month, with plenty going on in the capital.

The city’s kheimas (tents) are kicking off the weekend in seasonal shaabi style on Thursday, with Riverside welcoming Shaaban Abdel Rehim and Mahmoud El Leithy performing at Eat & Barrel, while InterContinental Cairo Citystars hosts Ahmed Adaweya.

Elsewhere, though, guitarist and singer-songwriter, Hassan Ramzy, performs at the Tap East in New Cairo, while the Nubian and Sudanese are on the menu at El Dammah Theatre, where the unique Rango will be cooking up a treat for the ears.

Friday is typically busy, with some of the highlight events including increasingly popular brass band, El Nafikha, performing at Westown Hub, and the enduring Wust El Balad performing at Uptown Cairo khaeima, Lanterns.

Elsewhere, the Alexandria-based Sorour Project bring their unique fusions sounds to Garden City’s ROOM Art Space, while veteran rockers, Andromida, perform at El Sawy Culturewheel.

Meanwhile, Ramadan regular, Ahmed Adaweya, performs for the second time in as many days, but this time at Riverside, while InterContinental Citystars welcomes Abdel Baset Hamouda.

Saturday is decdidedly quiter, but there is a big gig to sink your teeth into. The first sees local band, El Dor El Awal take to the stage at Darb 1718 for the cultural venue’s collaborative efforts with Cairo Jazz Club Agency’s Mawaweel, as Mawaweel X El Sat7 comes to a close.

This weekend might be many Cairenes’ last chance to visit the many other kheimas across the capital, including JW Marriott’s Welad El Zawaat, Cairo Marriott’s Som3a Basha and Wust El Balad at the Nile Ritz-Carlton, as well as Wahawi at Le Pacha 1901 in Zamalek.
