In its 2019 edition entitled ‘Narrative Disruptors’, Narrative Summit foresaw a digitalised future that will reshape the world’s perception of social life, economy and technology. The edition envisioned the digital transformation taking shape in several years; however, it took COVID-19 only a matter of months to realise the forecast.

Swiftly adapting to the dramatic change in the scene, Narrative Summit launched ‘Reshaping Norms’; a series of digital talks by several government officials, businessmen, as well as international experts. Lamia Kamel, CEO of public relations firm CC Plus, and founder of Narrative Summit said, “Due to the rapidly evolving developments of the coronavirus pandemic across Egypt and the world, it was necessary that we find a new way to utilise our platform to inspire people and tell stories by presenting talks from different speakers, solely on the digital stage,”

The first season of the series, which was launched April of this year, saw various experts discussing the pandemic’s economic and technological consequences. The series hosted Dr Mahmoud Mohieldin, the United Nations’ Special Envoy on Financing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development; Dr Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development; Waseem El Tanahi, CEO of Media Republic and Managing Director of Cairo 360; artificial intelligence expert Ihab Moustafa, CEO of NI Consulting, and Dina Al-Mofti, founder and CEO of INJAZ Egypt.

Deemed a success with over a million views across Narrative Summit’s digital platforms, a second season of ‘Reshaping Norms’ is set to begin with another talk with Dr Hala El-Said, in which she reviews the measures taken by the Egyptian government during this crisis, and sheds light on its plans for development.

“The first season of our digital series Narrative Summit: Reshaping Norms was a great success. Given the varying interests and views of the audience on social media websites, we put a lot of thought into the kind of unique content that we wanted to present. In every five-minute episode, our featured speakers would provide focused, in-depth insights, information, and clear strategies for the future. Our goal was to give people what they need in the current situation; especially the youth, who are eager to listen to focused and reliable sources.” Kamel adds.

The second season features a host of prestigious speakers, including Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology; Dr Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation; Mr Ibrahim Sarhan, Chairman of e-finance, and former Ministers of Communications and Information Technology, Atef Helmy and Hani Mahmoud. The season also sees talks by actor Ahmed Zaher, TV presenter Maha Al Sagheer, travel expert Sarah Gallo, and Marketing Consultant, Scott Guthrie.
