As previously stated by the president, 2019 is “The Year of Education”. Consequently, it is the solemn duty of Egyptian organizations, regardless of the nature of their businesses, to utilize and direct their resources and connections towards this major objective in order to create an impact in our developing society. Two leading examples that have already taken the initiative are Red Rock International, a prominent company that aims to help people grow and learn through experiential premium training programmes, and Orange, one of the world’s leading telecommunications operators with a clientele of millions across the globe.

For the second year in a row, after 2018’s highly fruitful event, Red Rock International hosted The Corporate Race, powered by Orange, again this year to raise funds with the main goal of vocational education; granting an amount of 1 million EGP to 150 girls in the Egyptian Universities aiming to turn their dreams into reality in cooperation with Injaz Egypt.

Co-founder of Injaz Egypt, Dina El Mofty, said, “We are so excited to be bringing together our community of corporate partners to join in the Corporate Race ‘19 for a full day of fun team-building activities and all, to support a great cause impacting girls’ entrepreneurial education across Egypt.”

And so the second round commenced, with Nader Maurice, CEO of Red Rock International, stating: “I believe in the power of togetherness. Let’s come together for a cause that is bigger than us.”

The two-phase race encompassed over 30 teams from various industries, including some influential names, with “the belief that the corporate world can come together to make a difference”. It lasted for a day with customized activities to encourage teamwork under the umbrella of vocational education. As previously mentioned, the funds raised will go to the girls to develop their basic business knowledge, and thus broadening their future and career prospects. With regards to the sponsors, Orange was the platinum sponsor, supported by ZED El Sheikh Zayed, the gold sponsor, and the two silver sponsors, Orascom Industries and Pepsico. Other organizations who backed the corporate event included IDH, Adeco, and Pulse Studio.

At the end of the day, Hala Abdel Wadood, Head of Public Relations & Corporate Social Responsibility at Orange Egypt gave the 1 million EGP cheque to Dina El Mofty, who delivered a heartwarming and inspirational speech, along with one of the girls who were supported by the programme. Moreover, all the participating parties were honored and medals were awarded to the winning teams in the closing ceremony.

Expressing her pride for sponsoring the Red Corporate Race for the second consecutive year, Abdel Wadood said: “Our support for this race is a key element in our efforts to support sustainable social development in Egypt and copes with the efforts and strategy of Orange that support Women’s Empowerment and Education. We always strive to endorse advanced education and improve the working environment in the Egyptian society.”

She also added, “Orange always seeks to cooperate and partner with leading associations like Injaz Egypt and Red Rock to help us in reaching our goal and raise the needed funds to the education of Egyptian girls.”
