Along with aiming to benefit communities through their housing developments, SODIC is passionate about encouraging sports and charity activities. In recent years, SODIC has partnered with Cairo Runners in order to bring attention to important issues. In 2015 and 2016, SODIC organised a run for breast cancer awareness, and in 2017, they collaborated with the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation (MYF) for a charity run which raised over 435,000 EGP.

This year, SODIC is partnering with Control, a nonprofit organisation founded by Dr. Noha Khater and Dr. Rania Kadry with the goal of combatting the burden of diabetic vision loss, which runs rampant in Egypt. Dr. Khater and Dr. Kadry established Egypt’s first specialised diabetic eye care clinics, as well as providing free health care services to diabetics in need and educating communities on the impact of poor glucose control. It is no surprise that, with the high amounts of sugar consumed in Egypt, diabetes is a common health issue in this country, as well as a very mismanaged one.

This Friday, the 9th of November from 7 AM until 11:30 AM at SODIC West, runners of all ages, families and friends of those affected by diabetes, or anyone who is enthusiastic about supporting a good cause, are welcome to be a part of this significant charity event.
