Nader Saad, the ministry’s spokesperson, announced that strict regulations will be imposed on Easter Day, the 19th of April, including the shutdown of gardens, parks, and beaches, as well as malls, according to El Watan News. He also stated that Easter day will be treated as if it were Friday in terms of the curfew, when business are subject to closure all day, and transportation will be suspended from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
Egyptian Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly announced on Wednesday that the curfew will extend for two more weeks, according to Ahram. To further combat the Coronavirus (COVID-19)’s rapid transmission, Egypt’s Coptic Orthodox church has suspended prayers preceding Easter day, and masses will be suspended until further notice, according to Aawsat.
We urge people to stay safe, maintain social distance, and regularly wash their hands. It’s preferable to celebrate Easter this year at home to keep our loved ones, and ourselves, protected.
