While we don’t label ourselves as feminists, we can’t help but feel proud of our fellow Egyptian women who earn the success and recognition they deserve. A couple of days ago, renowned business magazine Forbes, in its Middle East edition, released the 2020 list of Power Businesswomen in the Region.

Not having found any Egyptians on top of the rankings didn’t discourage us from going through the whole list, as we’re confident that our nation’s women have what it takes to take the lead, as well as leave a mark on every field they walk in – we were the great-granddaughters of Hatshepsut, and Nefertiti, duh.

In the 24th place came Mona Zulfiqar; Founding Partner and Chairperson of Zulficar & Partners; EFG Hermes, while CEO of TAQA Arabia, Pakinam Kafafi, ranked 31st; Elham Mahfouz, from the banking and finance sector, ranked at 33 as the CEO of Commercial Bank of Kuwait.

The 40th place is occupied by Senior Vice Chair of Oriental Group; Oriental Weavers Carpets Co., Yasmine and Farida Mohammed Farid Khamis, while Hend El Sherbiny, Group CEO of Integrated Diagnostics Holdings came 53rd. Seven ranks later is Export Development Bank of Egypt’s Chairperson, Mervat Zohdy, while the 69th place was for Reem Asaad, CEO of Raya Contact Centre.

British-Egyptian Hoda Mansour, Managing Director of SAP Egypt, ranked 75th, Egytrans’ CEO, Abir Leheta came 81st, and lastly, Noha El Ghazaly, Managing Director of Pharos Holding for Financial Investments came 92nd.

According to Forbes, members of the list tick various criteria, including how massive the business that the women lead is, their accomplishments during the last year, and, of course, their overall work experience. Check the whole list here.
