The Merry Marriott: Christmas Was Great, New Year’s Eve is Even Better at The Marriott
Cairo 360
One week away from the annual extravaganza that is New Year’s Eve and many across Cairo are still scratching their chins, wondering where and how they’ll see in 2017.
For a more demure midnight countdown, look no further than the Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar Khayyam Casino in Zamalek. While many dive into the occasion with gimmicks, the Marriott – in true Marriott style – is keeping things a little more simple, but no less enticing.
Food and entertainment are the order of the day at the hotel with all of its restaurants and venues offering a variety of different ways to celebrate the New Year – the only problem is giving to choose one.
The hotel’s resident Italian restaurant is offering a lavish set menu for 1315LE (inclusive of taxes), to the backdrop of a live guitar and singing – like in the ‘Old Country’.
One of the more lavishly decorated venues at the Marriott is hosting a suitably lavish set menu for 1575LE per person, with more live music also on offer.
For the carnivores of Cairo, the city’s premier steakhouse is offering a set menu for 1575LE per person, with one of the hotel’s pianist set to provide the music.
There’s no set menu at the Marriot’s slice of Britain, Harry’s Pub, but there is plenty of entertainment, with live music set to take centre-stage throughout the night (minimum charge 300LE).
Som3a Basha
Usually seen during Ramadan, Som3a Basha is set to make a return to inject a little touch of Oriental into proceedings, with a spectacular set menu of Egyptian and Arab classics for 1490LE per person, as well as a singer and belly-dancer.
The Marriott’s most recently opened venue is also its busiest come NYE. Not only can you choose out of two set menus (1500LE/2000LE) or the a la cart menu, but a huge entertainment line-up includes singers Engy and Ahmed Sheba, as well as belly-dancer, Nagwan.
