As the final days of 2018 bid us goodbye, we look back at the wonderful moments of this blissful year through quite a different perspective. This year has been filled with a lot of big moments, and we can easily pick up on those highlights if we simply take a look at Google’s rankings for the most “searched” items throughout the year.

In terms of public figures, we have a new face in Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, the Croatian president that stole the hearts of the whole world with her cheerful and passionate support of her beloved country throughout the World Cup. Among singers, Hossam Habib (4th place) topped Amr Diab who came in sixth, while Haifa Wehbe came in second.

Malak Koura was a strong feature in terms of actors, coming in fifth place beating Mohamed – Number One – Ramadan who just barely made it to the top 10 (coming in last). However, he may find solace in Nesr El-Saeed being the most searched TV show. On the other hand, the trending TV show host Radwa El-Sherbiny rose to the seventh spot, while Stephen Hawking made it to the ninth spot after his death in March of 2018.

Going back to sports, the list of the most searched matches was filled with Egypt, taking over 7 of the top 10 spots, with the number one rank going to Egypt versus Russia, while Al-Ahly got 2 spots, and Liverpool took just one. You’d think Mo Salah has lost his influence on the search engine rankings, but he was actually the most searched public figure. Salah took Liverpool to the second spot in the most searched items, while “National High School Results 2018” came in first.

Moving on to songs, El3ab Yala came in fifth, preceded by 3 Daqqat, Despacito, Ana Gada3, with Mahragan La2 La2 coming in the top spot, most probably courtesy of its association with Johara.

Well, there you go, in 2018 Haifa Wehbe was the second most searched public figure right behind the Egyptian King, Mohamed Salah. In TV Shows, Mohamed Ramadan’s Nesr El Saeed took the number one spot, while the World Cup was the most searched event of the year. But above all else, the “National High School Results 2018” beat all.
