Building on the gigantic prosperity of ride-hailing apps, a similar solution for the freight industry currently exists: Trella is a B2B trucking marketplace which aims to improve productivity throughout the supply chain. Trella was founded in 2018 by Omar Hagrass and Pierre Saad to ease the pain of crumbling industry.
They have managed to build a platform that connects real-time carriers with shippers, with the objective of making the supply chain faster, reliable, and much more efficient, with no room for exceptions and slack. The app improves efficiency and load utilisation, presenting a transparent pricing system and shipment tracking.
Trella has now managed to raise pre-seed funding of over US$600,000 in a round led by Algebra Ventures, which is a US $50 million Cairo-based venture capital fund that has invested in a host of early-stage tech companies in the MENA region and in Egypt, including Halan, FilKhedma, GoodsMart, Elmenus, and Eventtus.
