Last Friday, Egypt announced an increase in gasoline prices. In light of this increase, the ride-sharing application, Uber, have consequently announced an increase in their fare prices. Accordingly, in keeping with its transparent policy, Uber emailed all its users, alerting them to the new prices.
Given that some of you may have missed Uber’s email, and, since we definitely know that a lot of us Cairenes rely on the app almost daily (to the extent that Uber has become the go-to transportation method for a lot of Cairenes’ daily trips to and from work) we are here to tell you everything you need to know about the latest increase in fare prices.
For starters, UberX rides still begin at a flat fee of 7.25 EGP; however, the price per kilometer has increased from 2.40 EGP to 2.70 EGP. As per waiting time, while one minute of your UberX waiting coast 25 Piasters, it now costs 40 Piasters, per minute of waiting time. Additionally, while minimum fare was 10 EGP, it is now 12 EGP. Furthermore, cancelling your UberX will cost you 12 EGP.
As per UberSelect, rides continue to begin at a flat fee of 10 EGP; however, the price per kilometer has increased from 3.5 EGP to 3.95 EGP. As for UberSelect waiting time, it is still priced at 65 Piasters, per a minute of waiting. Moreover, while minimum UberSelect fare was 15 EGP, it is now 17 EGP. Finally, UberSelect cancellation fees amount to 17 EGP.
