Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Nile, the Blu Relay Race, an exclusive kayaking event tailored for the vibrant community of students from BISC and CAC, is set to take place at ROWIN Rowing Club. This race isn’t just about crossing the finish line—it’s a testament to the power of collaboration, community engagement, and positive change. Organised by passionate participants of the Youth Entrepreneurship Program for Change at WAVE Youth Center from the high school community of BISC and CAC, and in partnership with VeryNile, the Blu Relay Race is more than a traditional sporting competition. It’s a platform where youthful energy meets environmental consciousness, physical fitness intertwines with critical reflection, and where every step to the finish line propels towards a more sustainable future.

Highlighting the event’s exclusivity to BISC and CAC students, the collective aim is to facilitate positive community change and lifestyle improvements. Proceeds from the event are directed towards purchasing boats for local fishermen and aiding in the collection of plastic waste from the Nile, which is then recycled or converted into clean energy. Launched in September 2020, this impactful initiative, led by VeryNile, not only empowers local fishermen on the social and economic levels but also immensely contributes to environmental conservation efforts. On a daily basis, this green army removes an average of 100kg of plastic waste from the Nile, amounting to nearly 40 tons annually.

The Kayak Relay Race will take place at the ROWIN Rowing Club. With 80 participants in teams of four, the event starts at 8:00 am with a briefing, followed by the intense race from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. An Awards Celebration is scheduled from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Spectators, including friends and family, can relish a day by the Nile, enjoying food, beverages, and entertainment with a DJ line-up. About 50 spectators are expected to join, ensuring a lively atmosphere along the riverbank.

More than just a race, The Blu Relay Race is a platform for participants to make a tangible difference in their community, fostering collaboration and positive change. Set against the picturesque backdrop of the Nile, the race encourages teenagers to connect with nature, instilling a deeper appreciation for the environment. Beyond the physical challenge, the event prompts young minds to reflect on pressing societal issues, sparking meaningful dialogue and awareness. In essence, the race embodies a holistic approach, combining community impact, environmental consciousness, critical reflection, and physical fitness into a singular, transformative experience.
