As Egyptians, whatever the game is, we support the players with all of our hearts and souls, come what may – let alone a game we excel in. We’re talking about squash here, in which our players, men and women, not only dominate the top 5 places of the world rankings but are also conquering its top events.

Being home to the world’s current number one squash players, Raneem El Welily, and Ali Farag, it was natural for Wadi Degla Sporting Club to be one of the main organizers of any of the game’s tournaments that take place in Egypt.

Thanks to Wadi Degla Sporting Club’s efforts, the CIB PSA World Tour made it this year to Cairo, after having been held in Dubai for the past three years It all began on the 8th of June when the club launched the tournament in the special gala dinner that was held by the professional squash association in honor of the best performing players – yes, you guessed it; the club’s very own El Welily and Farag, who have the lion’s share of this season’s trophies.

The CIB PSA World Tour event took place at The Park at Mall of Arabia; yes, you read that right folks, Wadi Degla Sporting Club chose an extremely popular mall as the location of this event. This indicates that Wadi Degla Sporting Club is very much committed to popularizing this sport and increasing its fan base. Indeed, Wadi Degla Sporting Club gave every mall visitor the opportunity to enjoy the matches, and have access to watch world-class players.

Speaking of world class players, from the 9th to the 14th of June, The CIB PSA World Tour was held and included the world’s top 16 male and female players in the game and grants a total prize of 325,000 $. Having won against Camille Serme (France) in the women’s final,Wadi Degla player El Welily Snatched her 6th trophy this season, while the men’s final was an all Egyptian affair, with Karim Abdel Gawad winning against Mohammed Abou El Ghar.

Just as our squash players are a source of pride and joy to all of us, it must be a delight for Wadi Degla Sporting Club to be the first club in the world to which two number one players belong; a record that speaks a lot about the club’s successful strategy that creates champions who are competing worldwide.
