Why do people like swimming? Is it because of the feeling that underwater life transports them to what seems like a parallel world? Is it because there is something unique about roaming around an aquatic surrounding, contemplating the many aspects of life? Whatever the reason may be, there is one thing that is sure, and that is that Egyptians rock at swimming! Remember when we talked about the synchronised swimmers who qualified for the 2020 Olympics? Well, we now have another important announcement about another group of talented Egyptian swimmers: Egypt just won fourth place at the 16th Finswimming World Junior Championship 2019 in Sharm El Sheikh, according to Finswimmer Magazine.

Let us break down the details. First, what is CMAS? Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques (CMAS) is an international federation that represents underwater activities in underwater sport and underwater sciences. It is known by its English name, the World Underwater Federation, that was founded in 1959 and comprises over 130 federations from 5 continents, as stated on its website. In addition to organising international underwater sport events, it is at the forefront of technical and scientific research and development. You can read more about its history, different committees and competitions, as well as the recorded results over the past few days on the site.

Sport Elwatan reported the final winners for the 4×100 Finals, with the Russian team in first place, Ukraine in second, and Hungary with the bronze, followed by our beloved Egyptian champions. It is also worth mentioning that native swimmer, Judi Sherif Almas, broke the Egyptian record at the 100m finswimming, above water race, at 41.91 seconds. We are sure that our champs will win gold next year!
