It’s like chess on legs. It’s a sport which combines fitness, strategy, physical and mental stamina in a super intense setting, in front of a lively crowd! The name of the game is “Squash” folks, and Egyptians happen to excel at it.
“Playing in front of your home crowd, the support and love you get from them is everything for me. I can feel the positive vibes everywhere!” said Nour El Sherbiny; the warrior princess, the Egyptian professional squash player, three times world champion and the youngest woman to win the Women’s World Championship in 2015, when interviewed by El Gouna TV as they were announcing the opening of EL GOUNA INTERNATIONAL SQUASH OPEN 2019.
This year’s edition (the 8th of its kind) will start on April the 17th and will run until the 26th. The event has been officially recognised as a PSA Platinum Event; it features women’s and men’s competitions with an equal prize of 165,000 US Dollars for each of the winners! Top world players will be competing, and the 2018 winners, Marwan ElShorbagy and Raneem El Welily, will defend their titles.
Catch up with the players on the court at El Gouna by purchasing your tickets from TicketsMarche. The event will take place at Abu Tig Marina, El Gouna, and prices range from 150 LE up to 350 LE depending on the seating area.
You can always keep yourself updated with all the details and full information about the competitors through the official Facebook page – El Gouna Squash – and website of the tournament.
