Jürgen Klopp, the German manager of English Premier League club, Liverpool, discussed the possibility that Egyptian footballer, Mohamed Salah might join the Egyptian national team at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. According to CNN, during a press conference on Saturday, ahead of his team’s match against Southampton, Klopp mentioned that neither the club nor Salah have taken a decision yet
Klopp hopes that his team will be complete during preparations for the upcoming season, but that might not happen due to the UEFA European Football Championship, Copa América, and the Olympics taking place so close to each other. The Egyptian national team qualified for the 2020 Olympics after beating Ivory Coast 2-1 during the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, which was held on Egyptian grounds in Cairo.
Yesterday, Liverpool won 4-0 against Southampton, a match that saw Salah score twice for his English team. Will he score for Egypt at the Olympics? Fingers crossed!
