Nothing says summer like a good old-fashioned barbeque. We can’t quite put our finger on what it is, but being by the beach somehow awakens our appetite for grilled meat. Plus, we all know that Egyptians are masters at the craft. When we find ourselves in Sahel, though, the typical night out entails some sort of fancy resto-bar, and while they can be great fun and the food delicious, they don’t always cut it. Sometimes we need something that reminds us of home, of our Middle Eastern roots. To make your quest for good food, specifically barbeques and grills, that much easier, we’ve curated a list of five spots on the North Coast that are out of this world.

 

Mistiqa, La Vista Bay

Mistiqa finally reopened its Sahel branch this summer, just in time for our annual pilgrimage. They have been catering to our barbeque needs in Ain El Sokhna for years now, so it was only fitting that they welcomed diners in Sahel when they first opened in the summer of 2021. Their grilled meats are divine, so make sure to drop by this year.

 

Andrea, Hacienda Bay

Located right in the heart of the Hacienda Bay Village, Andrea is widely considered to be Egypt’s most iconic restaurant. It goes without saying that you simply must give them a try.

 

Beefbar, Playa

Playa has been on everyone’s radar lately, and here’s just one more reason to visit them. Born in Monte Carlo, Beefbar has become one of the Mediterranean’s iconic restaurant chains, with branches all over the region in Italy, Cyprus, France, Malta, and so many more. With exceptional meat cuts coming in options galore from grilled, barbeque, and wok, to name but a few, this luxury restaurant should be on everyone’s list this summer.

 

BBQ Bros, Marassi

It’s all in the name. BBQ Bros is easily one of the best places in Sahel to go to if you have a hankering for a good barbeque that will make your mouth water at the very sight of your meal. We first heard of BBQ Bros when they opened in Galleria 40 in Sheikh Zayed, and it was great news to all of us when we learned they’d be expanding to our favourite beach-side resorts in Marassi and El Gouna. 

 

Crimson Bar & Grill, Marassi

Zamalek’s Crimson restaurant is renowned for its superb cuisine and stunning Nile views. It’s no surprise that they’ve opened a branch in Sahel, and the Marassi location is just as impressive as their Cairo one, with equally delicious food and a breathtaking beach setting.
