Winter is officially here now that it’s December and we all know what this means, Christmas is here! Well, nearly here anyways, but we can’t contain our excitement. While Christmas in Egypt is generally celebrated on January 7 by the Copts, it is widely celebrated throughout Cairo especially by restaurants and cafes throughout the entirety of December. Every year, selected restaurants cater a few of their menu items towards Christmas, and some even create a brand new menu that becomes only available during this time of year. The Christmas spirit echoes no matter what faith Cairenes belong to, and here are four places where you can celebrate Christmas!
Ovio

For trusted holiday-edition pancakes, for every special occasion, Ovio will designate a menu that caters for such occasions. This year, like every other year, Ovio has new additions to their menu that surely scream Christmas. You can now enjoy their Spicy Lotus pancakes and Dulce de Leche pancakes with a cup of festive, signature hot chocolate. You can also bring your kids along to decorate their special edition Christmas cookies!
Dara’s Ice cream

One of Cairo’s favourite Ice cream shops just announced new goodies to celebrate Christmas and we are here for it! They even announced a competition on their socials for those who guess the new additions and flavours to win a golden ticket and get a month of free Ice cream! Their new flavours range from cherries and lemon to chocolate and spicy caramel, are you on your way to Dara’s yet?
Eish & Malh

Located in Downtown Cairo, Eish & Malh prepares a Christmas brunch or dinner every year where you get to enjoy your food along with good soul-feeding live music! This year, they’ve put together a Christmas Eve and Day brunch on December 24 and 25, with live Jazz music playing in the background. Make sure you clear your holiday’s plans for this
HydeOut

HydeOut, New Cairo recently opened and it came prepared! This year, HydeOut is going all out with its adventurous activities. They have all kinds of activities ranging from skiing and going on rides to playing games and enjoying finger-licking food! They also have a two day special Christmas Town Market on December 17 and 18 where you can shop for your Christmas wish list.
Four Seasons Nile Plaza
Fancy a dinner, anyone? The Four Seasons Nile Plaza restaurants are throwing fancy celebratory Christmas lunch and dinner buffets along with live music entertainment! The cuisines range from Egyptian to Italian, Japanese and even Venetian! They have dessert buffets and Christmas-themed treats that you wouldn’t want to miss! The celebrations start from December 21 and continue till New Year’s Eve.
